MONSANTO AND THE GLOBAL HEALTH CRISIS

Filed under: The Healthy Musician — Corey March 11, 2009 @ 4:13 pm

Whether you realize it or not, you are a lab rat in a sick human experiment being conducted by the Monsanto and other like minded companies.  For years, Monsanto and friends have been tampering with the food supply.  A little genetic modification here and a little genetic modification there, and before you know it, even congress is playing along.  all at your expense!  GMO is the modern cyanide in the Cool Ade, intentionally forced into the food supply, and the end result is that we are rapidly approaching a health care crisis unlike anything this planet has ever experienced before.

The question is how much tampering with the food supply can the human race truly endure before the population really starts dying off in droves?  By the time Monsanto figures that out, it will probably be too late to reverse the damage they have done to our food supply.  I mean, how does one unravel the genetic mess they have introduced into the food supply?  Was their original goal to try to make the population of entire regions genetically sterile, thus forcing a reduction in population growth in key areas around the globe?  Or, is their goal to simply make us sick and dependent with hideous genetically induced disease, so that the pharmaceutical companies can make billions off the suffering they engineer into the populace as we slowly die off?  Whatever their agenda happens to be, I don’t buy for one second that their intentions are good.

Companies that tamper with the global food supply simply do not have the right to risk the lives of people on such a mass scale like that.  If something goes wrong, the degree of genocide that could potentially result would be unmatched even by the likes of Hitler.  Companies who tamper with the global food supply are doing nothing short of waging war on the human race itself.  And our useless government refuses to protect us from the likes of such depraved organizations.  If we do not act now and put an end to this insanity, our children will also suffer the consequences as a result of our negligence.  If Monsanto wants to tamper with the food supply, let them and their children eat their abominable GMO products.  It’s time to say no to GMO!

DISCLAIMER: Corey is a huge conspiracy nut who spends most of his time locked away in a padded room babbling about the fictitious monsters under his bed when he was a little child.  We encourage you to be cautious and to not believe anything he says, unless you already know what he is saying to be true.  Corey is not a genetic engineer, nor is he a medical professional, and his words have not been evaluated by the FDA, the AMA, or any of the incarnations of Doctor Who.  But, despite all that, this GMO crap really needs to stop before someone gets hurt.

DEALING WITH ALLERGIES

Filed under: The Healthy Musician — Corey February 13, 2009 @ 11:55 am

By Corey Bray

So many of us deal with allergies.  It’s like a plague that comes back over and over again.  Get too close to plants,, the wrong food, or your pets and the itchy sneezy feeling emerges followed up by the annoying drip drip of mucus in the back of the throat.  For many people this causes even worse health problems such as  unrelenting stomach problems, muscle pain, and undesirable spells of fatigue.  For some folks, something as simple as a bee sting, eating a peanut, or even having sex can bring about deadly allergic reactions.  But, why do some people have such harsh reactions to allergens, while others have little to no reaction at all?

The underlying problem appears to be a hypersensitive immune response.   When your body comes in contact with certain protein antigens, your immune system can’t tell if they are friendly or not.  And as the immune system over reacts to the foreign protein antigen, the immune response triggers a plethora of unpleasant symptoms.  It is then that you find yourself fishing around the drug cabinet for something to help bring the problem under control.  And for a musician this can lead to a number of performance nightmares.  Imagine trying to sing with the post nasal drip constantly flowing.  Or, worse, you are trying to run a cool riff when your whole body breaks out into a spasmodic itch fest because the venue you are in is a breeding ground for dust-mites or other factors that contribute to triggering your immune system to over react?

Is it possible to bring the hypersensitivity of the immune system under control?  Obviously, it must be possible, if some people don’t suffer from serious allergic reactions at all.  One of the first areas to focus on is stress.  It seems that more and more medical science is finding that stress effects nearly every aspect of the body’s ability to function properly.   Is there a link between a hypersensitive nervous response and a hypersensitive immune response?  Very likely.  So, it is probably a smart idea to start dealing with the problem of both by reducing stress and taking vitamin B supplements to help manage stress.  Something else I believe is a means to helping the immune system get back on track is to use probiotics and proteolytic enzyme supplements.  Probiotics help to replenish the digestive system with good bacteria necessary for keeping the immune system strong.  Proteolytic enzymes are a companion that helps the immune system to dissolve allergy causing protein antigens, as well as, providing other useful health benefits.  But, for those who are looking to take a more aggressive approach to controlling allergic reactions, liver cleansing might be just what the doctor ordered.  Many people report an amazing transformation after doing a thorough liver cleanse.  One of the common benefits reported is the elimination of allergies.  Could it be that an over toxic liver is what drives most allergy sufferers to be stuck with a hypersensitive immune system?  While most treatment options only address the allergy symptoms, the goal of liver cleansing is to address the underlying toxicity problem that keeps the liver from functioning properly.   And hey, you clean the outside of your body, right?  Why not clean the inside too?

We Have a Pill For You

Filed under: The Healthy Musician — Corey December 2, 2008 @ 8:50 pm

Do you have acid reflux?  We have a pill for you.  Do you have trouble sleeping?  We have a pill for you.  Do you want to quit smoking?  We have a pill for you.  Do your children misbehave?  We have a pill for that too.  It seems that no matter what problem arises in life, modern medicine has boiled everything down to a one size fits all pill popping solution. Pharmaceutical companies have really made a killing out of replacing health care professionals with pill-prescribing drug pushers.  The only difference is that the modern drug dealers inhabit nice clean offices and have direct legal access to kids and parents a like.

I never realized the true impact this had on society until I visited my local doctors office.  My throat was all sore and red and immediately my doctor jumps to the conclusion that it must be acid reflux.  Of course, she wanted to put me on the latest miracle pill: a proton pump inhibiter called Prevacid. Ever heard of it?  The more she insisted I should pop the pill, the more I resisted.  It was like being subjected to high school peer pressure all over again.  Only instead of kids coaxing me to smoke weed in the dark dingy bathroom between classes, it was my own physician trying to convince me that i should start popping Prevacid.  But, I had been down the pill popping path many years prior, thanks to my doctor’s and my own stupidity.  When I was much younger, I had some pretty unpleasant stomach issues.  I spent a long time popping everything from Tums like candy to more serious drugs like Pepcid, Zantac, and Tagament.  A few years of that with no end in sight made me learn not to trust doctors any further than I could throw them. Then one day, it hit me.  Doctors prescribe medicine, because doctors practice medicine.   Now, think about this.  Most medicines are composed of highly toxic chemicals that can have some pretty serious side effects. Musicians are no strangers to the side effects of toxic drugs. Many times, musicians are put in the hospital and rehab because of the side effects caused from taking drugs.  So, who is the bright spark over at the FDA who decided that throwing a toxic pill at every symptom is what our medical system should be all about?  Let that one sink in for a moment. Because the only way I could think to get off all the drugs I was taking back then was to use activated charcoal to help remove the toxins I was addicted to and to change my diet so as not to irritate my stomach any further.  So, when my doctor wanted to throw a new miracle pill at the symptoms she had observed, you can begin to understand my hesitation.

Now, I learned in school to “just say no to drugs”.  Unfortunately, my physician didn’t really want to take no for an answer.  So, she decided to send me off to an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) specialist.  A few days later, I walk into the ENT’s office and they stick this tube down my nose that lets them see everything on a view monitor as they inch down my throat.  Of course, my throat is still red and sore.  And wouldn’t you know it, they are certain I have acid reflux too.   What do they do?  You guessed it, they prescribed Prevacid.  At this point, I am thinking this is some sort of conspiracy.  And in all honesty, that probably isn’t too far from the truth. And I really didn’t feel up to fighting with another doctor who worked for a system that was hell bent to push pills rather than provide any real advice to help their patients get healthy.  So, I gave into peer pressure and bought the pills.

Fortunately, after being on the pills for about 4 days, my body had a reaction.  That is to say, I got rather ill.  At about that time, my blood work came back to my doctor’s office indicating that I had the EB virus that causes mono.  Basically, two doctors prescribed the same wrong drug for the wrong problem.  At that point, my trust of doctors had gone straight down the tubes.  And it’s not just me.  Many people don’t trust doctors anymore because of experiences like that.  Modern medicine has become something it should have never become: A means to making lots of money while using innocent patients as unwitting test subjects to try out the latest drugs to see what happens. Unfortunately, the story doesn’t end here.  One need only look around on the internet to find one horror story after another of people hooked on Prevacid who are now afraid to go off the pill, because the side effects of doing so are so terrible.  Which makes one wonder why so many of these folks were put on Prevacid by their doctors in the first place? I don’t know about everyone else, but I didn’t go to my doctor to get put on a pill that causes a worse problem than I walked into their office with.   I went to my doctor to find out what lifestyle changes, if any, could be made to deal with the source of my health problems.  That should be the first course of action in any truly legitimate health treatment plan.  Acid reflux is not caused from a Prevacid defficiency.  And once folks realize that, the medical community will have a lot of explaining to do to victims of this and other potentially harmful drugs.  If you suspect that you have acid reflux, you might want to try to find a physician in your area who is more interested at getting to the root of the problem rather than throwing pills at symptoms and playing dice with your health.

My Weight Loss Secret

Filed under: The Healthy Musician — Corey September 24, 2008 @ 3:19 pm

Recently people have been commenting a lot on my weight.  Back in May I was hovering somewhere around 208 pounds.  I was out to prove that the fear of starving to death on a vegan diet was a completely unfounded concern.  By mid July, I had slimmed down considerably to a sleek 170 pounds: a difference of nearly 40 pounds.  Since then, everyone has been wanting to know my weight loss secret.  Was it some new pill to reduce fat for those pushing maximum density?  Was I spending more time at the gym? No, in fact, my weight loss plan came to me purely by accident. Somehow, out of nowhere, I contracted infectious mononucleosis (often refered to as mono or the kissing disease).  The bummer of the whole ordeal was that I wasn’t anywhere near another person’s lips during the incubation period leading up to the onset of sweats, swollen glands, dysphagia, dry heaving, and a sore throat that resembled swallowing razor blades.  Basically, the sort of symptoms you get after being severely kicked and beaten while trying to make your way out of the mosh pit at a death metal concert.  At least, that is how your ribs and spleen feel once the infection really grabs hold and decides to make its presence known.  The sad thing is that many people who get mono never get a serious case of it.  It is only those of us lucky enough to have symptoms drag out for months who get a sense of how evil such an infection truly is.

Exercise for your Fans

Filed under: The Healthy Musician — Corey September 22, 2008 @ 3:42 pm

A band can miss a lot of gigs if one or more of its members are chronically ill.  This can also be a huge let down for a lot of fans who hear that your show was canceled again for the second time in a row because someone was too ill to perform.  Unless you are an active drummer for a thrash metal band, I would like for you to take a moment and assess your exercise habits.  I mean, when was the last time you put down the guitar, put out your cigarette, and got off the couch?  If you aren’t getting in two to three solid hours of exercise a week, then you really should start making the time to get yourself back in shape.
